BRAURON

Brauron (or else known as Vravrona) used to be one of the 12 ancient cities of Attica, prior to their unification under the name of Athens. Its traces date back to the 8th century BC. It is located on the eastern side of Attica, around 32 kilometers from the historic center of the city of Athens, offering a unique opportunity to travelers to combine excellent accessibility to sights and attractions while still maintaining an idyllic environment of calm and tranquility.

Excavations have revealed the rich history of Brauron with a multitude of significant sacred places brought to light. The Sanctuary of Artemis is perhaps the most prominent attraction in the area, with a plethora of different things that catch your eyes. The Temple of Artemis and the Π-shaped stoa (underground path), the sacred spring and the shrine nearby are just few of the attractions in the area of the sanctuary. All these depict the importance of Brauron as a religious hub, as a place where the Athenians paid tribute to the Goddess Artemis.

Nowadays, Brauron is one of the most picturesque villages of Attica and a place where travelers may relax and enjoy carefree moments in nature. Lush greenery and unspoiled landscapes are blended wonderfully with the crystalline waters of the South Euboean Gulf. Whether you are a history enthusiast or you seek a place of close proximity to Athens, yet without the hustle and bustle of the crowded city, Brauron is an excellent choice for you!
